Although you may be surprised to learn that the requirement applies to you as a university employee, state law states that you must report the time worked each day by means of time sheets that are submitted in paper or electronic format. These time sheets must be maintained by your institution’s fiscal office for at least two years.

The State Officials and Employees Ethics Act (5 ILCS 430/5-5) states that your institution’s policies shall, “… require State employees to periodically submit time sheets documenting the time spent each day on official State business to the nearest quarter hour.”
